I'm repairing a No17 Ives loco that my late father received for Xmas 1922. It appears to be missing it's governor, and was wondering if anyone had a picture or diagram or what type of governor the no 17 motor used. Have searched on the internet but had no luck

Thank's for the replies The loco is a later version of the No 17, has "PatAPR41911" stamped on the side plate with "1919" stamped below. I see the windup guy has fitted a Marx governor, I have a later Marx loco here which has a centrifugal governor similar to the Hornby clockwork type. As I'm trying to keep the loco original which I think was a spring type governor but have no idea what they look like or how they work.
Not a 17, but the same type governor, The spring has solder in the coil for weight and helps the spring kick out and hit the round cross bar.

Thanks For the photo's and description, most helpful. Looks like on the No 17 the spring is soldered to engine brake shaft will have to do some experimenting to get the best control.
