Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a 1940 Lionel 763e Hudson locomotive.  It was in great shape but missing the side markers (jewels).  I looked at my 226s to see what color they were and noticed that there are 3 different colored jewels, red, green and orange and they seem to have been placed randomly, that is to say that there is no specific pattern.  I thought maybe there would be front facing green and red on the side but no.  The only constant is that if there was a green marker in the front and an orange on the right side, the same is reflected on the left side.  So my question is, is there a correct placement of s specific colored jewel in the marker lights?  If so I can assume that in the past that the markers were replaces on some of my locomotives and they just put in whatever they had....or is the positioning of the colors totally random in which case everything is good.

Thanks

David
