I have recently run into a problem running engines in legacy mode.  All of the sudden my legacy engines seem to think they are in conventional.  When i pull the horn button and release it, the horn still continues to play until i cut power to the track.  The engines are letting me control from both the legacy remote and my z4000 transformer.  The engines are not getting the proper signal to run in legacy mode only.  Even though the legacy base is plugged in, the legacy engines are still able to be controlled by my transformer.  The horn button on the legacy remote is not stuck.

Let’s start with the basics.

Is the 1 wire from the base securely attached to the track common? Check both the base side and track or transformer common side.

Is the base plugged into a known good 3 prong grounded outlet?

Has anything on the layout changed?

Check the the binding post is not loose.  Sometimes they become disconnected from the circuit board inside.  Last resort.
