Okay last night I turned on my Cab2 legacy unit and it came on then went to flashing on and off on the screen. I replaced the batteries with new ones and the same thing. I then took some can air and sprayed all the areas in case of dirt or dust still the same thing on and off with the red light flashing on both Cab2 and base. Between the flashing on and off on the screen I could see that the little circle icon was there like maybe a button is stuck so I rechecked all the buttons and they seem to be OK as far as I can tell. I then noticed i cannot turn off the Cab2 unit with CTC button the only way to turn it off now is pull out one of the batteries. I also reloaded the 1.52 black modules in both the base and CAb2 still the same issue. Any ideas would be very helpful. I know I cannot send it back to Lionel until after August so I am just hoping it is something that I am missing. It has worked flawless for many years.

OK the Cab 2 has been repaired. The issue was the brake, boost, direction switch. Thanks Jim. After taking the unit apart and spraying that rocker switch with some tuner cleaner the issue has gone away. The one thing I did which was really a stupid thing was when I raised the circuit board I had the face plate facing up and guess what happen yep all the buttons fell out. so now I had to replace them all and they are keyed so you had to get them back in place correctly but after 2 hours I got them installed as well as the two slide switches set right and all in and working. I have used it now for at least an hour with no issues. So hopefully all is good now.

Jim

you might can but it would hard to get the spray down in the area where it needs to get. If you leave the front face Down then remove the two very small circuit board screws then lift the board up just far enough to spray the control. Be careful because there is three or four ribbon cables going to different places on the board. I would try lifting the board very easy without taking those two screws out. Because if you lift that board to far up then you have make sure you get it back in the correct location for the bell/whistle button and train brake slide button. Maybe just backing them out just a couple turns.

i hope I do not have to take it apart again but at least now I know to keep the face down .
