Legacy Sound cuts out

I had this problem with my em-1 but didn't see a spark. I just cleaned the track where this would happen and fixed the problem.

Have you fitted a 9V battery? They are intended to keep the sound running if you get a momentary power interruption.

The spark at the tether connection might mean a loose connection. I'd also recommend cleaning the wheels and pickup rollers too.

spray the pick-up rollers with contact cleaner.   also wipe the tether face for possible lint.  check for dirt build up at the engine truck ground.

The spark has to be resolved before anything else.  Most likely this is killing the Serial data to the RS in the tender and shutting it off.  FInd the damaged wire in the tether and repair.  G

It seems that back-to-back switches caused both tender power collectors to be off the center rail simultaneously.

I removed the shell and checked the tender for loose/frayed wires but found nothing amiss.

While the shell was off, I installed a 9v battery and when I re-assembled and tested - problem solved!
