I had bought the Hudson at my LHS, and could not find any aluminum cars at a reasonable price. So I got a different road name, and painted them with Rustoleum spray cans that were a reasonable color match. I did the striping with r/c model 1/16" wide striping, an the lettering with Woodland Scenics dry transfer lettering. I clear coated it with Rustoleum satin clear. I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

Being a Chicagoan, I haven't picked up a lot of New York Central pieces over the decades, despite growing up 5 miles due west of Englewood Union Station, commuting through LaSalle Street Station, and seeing the prototype everywhere here when I was a kid. However, I recently acquired a #773 Hudson (1950 version) and the #2344 f-units. I also have Marx locomotives #333 and #999. Aside from the yellow two-level animal car in the background of the diesel photo, I'd have to scrounge for any other NYC rolling stock (aside from the Marx passenger cars and a caboose or two). That's all, folks.

D500...fantastic weathering! Thank you

Thanks. The loco is interesting - I've posted it before - but it's a Lionel "ATSF" (not really) Warhorse J1e Hudson, streamlined with early Williams Dreyfuss Hudson sheet metal (and some scratch built), and the Lionel TMCC electronics transferred to the enhanced original Williams tender, to represent the 5344 in its J3a-type "Century" styling period, as used on the "Mercury". Valve gear detailing has been upgraded, too. Still a Pullmor, I'm afraid.

The weathering is Bragdon's dry pigment.

Had to dig deep to find things not already here, including a few NYC `works in progress' and oddities:
