I have a post was 3451 here that I am fooling with. It dumps ok after cleaning, but the coil type coupler also opens when you hit the "unload" button on the UCS track. This is the "sliding shoe" version. It appears to be wired ok. What am I overlooking?

As far as I know, only one coil coupler should open, not both.
If both open, the mechanism should not operate because one shoe provides the ground for the solenoid.
Here is the service manual page from Olsens.
If both couples open and the mechanism works, I would check to see where the solenoid is connected to the pickups. I don't see how it could be otherwise, but the solenoid wires should run to a little terminal on the metal strip that runs down to the sliding shoe, providing contact and pressure.
