Thanks for the compliments I like taking video too and playing around with it with editing software. 

I was indeed having trouble with the smoke unit. The main stack smoke unit to be specific. Lionel did get that fixed and it has been working fine for me ever since. It really cranks the smoke out. 

I have not *knock on wood* had any problems since early November of 2011 with this locomotive. It has been shipped to Lionel twice for repair. Once was paid by them which was courteous and the third and final issue was a blown sound board. Which they shipped to me and I installed.

I refuse to adjust anything on the inside of it because the way I look at it is as long as it works right why bother!  

I agree with you the E6 is definitely a number one favorite for me. 

Enjoyed the video. I also have on my roster a Lionel Lindbergh E6, which is one of my favorites. Pretty decoration and super operation. Also have the two car add-on to make the 'special' and a set of matching Lionel PRR 18" heavies to make a full train. Haven't had any issues since day 1. Glad you are enjoying yours.

You may remember the string (link below). The picture below was taken on Norm Charbonneau's last layout when it was still in its formative stages. Both stack smoke and whistle 'steam' are visible.

Another Lindbergh E6 Atlantic fan here. I run her almost daily and she has been runnig and smoking rock solid for 18- months now. Awesome engine with awesome sounds. Whistler still blows me away evertime I hear it. Thanks for posting the great video.

Yeah I agree on the whistle with ya Jeff! The whistle has to be special for me to buy this engine and it definitely was. Its not the typical Pennsy 3 chime you come to expect on all PRR steamers. The high pitch tone to it sets it in its own league.

I also really like the Legacy E-6 Atlantic, I have the Lindbergh Special and I have two of the Reading Line. I had a total of four until Lionel refunded one of them, I just purchased the last Reading E-6 from Train World about 2 months ago, it was doing great over the holidays as I was running it under the tree, now the main smoke unit has stopped smoking. This means that every one of the ones I had needed to be returned to lionel for the main stack smoke problem, something about the existing gasket swells up and stops the fan from turning.

I love these little engines, the looks, the sounds, the power, but most of all that whistle smoke. Also not a bad price for Legacy W/whistle smoke. 

Yeah there seems to be a faulty gasket in all of the main stack smoke units with these E6 Atlantics. 

I agree for the price which was $595 for me you get a full package! 

I too had issue with the Lindberg smoke unit. The replacement gasket was the first issue. Then, a few months later, the fan motor died. Now, I have a pretty sick sounding "whine" from the smoke unit motor which will likely require a trip back to OH. I'll try some oil on the motor shaft.

Also just had our Lionemaster BigBoy's smoke unit fail after 3 weeks. 

Lionel's smoke units seem to be more "fragile" than the MTH units. A relative has a few railking PS-2 locos and they seem pretty bullet-proof. Huge smoke, strong fan, no problems.  The Lionel units seem to be more temperamental in regard to the amount of fluid, clogging, etc.

The earlier Lionel smoke units are more fragile since Lionel was probably redesigning their smoke unit setup to compete against MTH smoke units. The smoke units now though that are in the Legacy locomotives are really really good at cranking the smoke out. They pretty much match the level of smoke output of an MTH engine.
