Needed a few Lionel repair parts , my dealer says not available the Lionel Parts Dept. reports being closed for 3 months for a move??
Is this for real, no repairs and perhaps a backlog after that waiting for parts????

Yep, this has already been discussed. I got a big order in right under the deadline.
Sadly months before the shutdown, 3 times they sent the wrong part using their pictures and part number. Maybe when they reopen the fourth attempt will be a charm
We all just need to be patient as they relocate their parts & service to North Carolina. In the long run, this should be a very good move for all of their customers.
Just hope if the AC-12's come in before they open they will not have quality/service issues.

there are other places available for parts.

If your needed parts are of the generic type. Why not use a supplier of the secondary market? Just a passing thought.
On my last parts order Lionel sent me a broken used part.
Hope the move resolves this.
While the part you need is not available directly from Lionel, it may be available from one of the major parts dealers. Perhaps you or your repair guy should call around. I have had good results getting stuff from OGR magazine advertiser S&W PARTS SUPPLY. They often have parts that Lionel shows as "out of stock".

Right you are. the move was advertized months ago. And it takes time to pack and restock.
Try a Lionel repair shop, many of them have lots of parts.
I bought 6 smoke motors and elements cause that's about all that's breaks on my Lionel engines
Three months shut down isn't such a bad deal, considering all that the guys have to do to make the move happen. Heck! Before the Lionel Service Department was relocated in Ohio and taken over by Mike Reagan, the old department in Michigan used to take 3 months to get any order shipped!

I'm sure that it won't stop the doom and gloom brigade from complaining, but after tomorrow there's only 2 months to go.

Slightly off topic: Does Lionel have an open house / parts sale scheduled for 2014?
In each of the previous few years, they've offered a discount to those who ordered parts online during the open house.

Nope. With the move I was told it wouldn't happen this year. The warehouse sale is still scheduled for November.
