I am posting this for information in case someone may run into the same problem that
I had with Lionel SC-2 Switch Controllers.
I need to say that I do not understand much about electronics. I have a number
of SC-2s that I had purchased used a while back. I proceeded to program these
for switches only I installed one under the layout and started wiring it to turnouts,
I do these one at a time and then turn on the layout power to test each one,
the first two of the turnouts went fine. After the third turnout was wired and the
power turned on this turnout was energized in the out position, the power was
immediately turned off so as not to burn out the solenoid on the turnout. I
proceeded to reprogram the SC-2 for all switches and turned the power on again
with the same results. This controller was removed and the second one put in its place,
the first two turnouts wired and working, the third was wired and had the same results
as the first SC-2. The same scenario with the third SC-2. It was getting late on Saturday
night so I contacted man very well versed in TMCC/Legacy to see if he might take a look
at them, to which he agreed. Sunday morning as I was preparing to pack them for shipping I
thought, try to reprogram one, one more time. Actually I tried to reprogram the first one
several times. AS mentioned earlier I had originally reprogrammed all three for all switches.
I wired the turnouts one at a time and then tested to make sure the wiring was right,
this worked for the first two turnouts, when I wired the third turnout and turned on the power,
the turnout again was energized in the out position. This was repeated on all three of the SC-2s,
I reprogrammed each one again and the same thing happened. Then I figured try to program for all
accessories, which I did, then I went through each accessory post and turned on and off with AUX 2.
This worked as it should. I then programmed again for all switches and had the same results as at
first. I thought to try one more thing, I programmed now for switches 0, and for accessory 0. As I
would expect the SC did not activate when I pressed the ACC or the SW buttons. I than programmed
one of the SCs for all switches and it worked as it should, I did the same with the other two and got the same results. I have installed all three on the layout and powered up and now all seems fine,
they are now working as they should. I turned power to the layout off and on several times and have
now left the power on the layout for several hours, so far all is good. The layout was powered up
again this morning and all seems good with these Switch Controllers.

SINCLAIR,

That was my thought also, I went back and checked it out. The switch worked, as it should, with a control button. I than connected the third switch to the next post on the SC-2, the next post to the right which would be #5 and it worked when hooked up there. I moved back to #3 one wire at a time and the malfunction reoccurred. The first thing I questioned was the switch and my installation.
