Wondering which engine is better, as far as sound an detail. Lionel is doing a made to order in vol 2 catalog, Mth ps3 is available now.

If I remember correctly, this was already discussed within the last few weeks. You might try the SEARCH feature.
You would need to have the 2 model engines side by side for a really true & fair comparison.
I would favor MTH because I like the DCS system and have 4 other command control engines by MTH. Plus the cost of the MTH engine might be a bit less.
Lionel may have features that you like, Legacy control, or details on the engine. If you have Lionel Legacy then get the Lionel engine because you won't need a separate command control system to run it with.
FYI; Legacy won't run in command control on DCS and MTH's PS-3 won't run in command control on Legacy system.

The earlier discussion was just six days ago. But it was pretty limited, and it involved the 2005 MTH release and the 2008 Lionel release. Here's the link:

I have the 2013 issue by MTH of the Wabash NS Heritage scheme. Very nice. Lionel produced the same scheme last year. But I can't make a side-by-side comparison either.
Don't overthink this. You will be happy with either model. The determining factors may be which command system you prefer and the price.

Well..... Legacy won't have all it's legacy features available in DCS control but it can run in command control, Tmcc mode.
