It's the time again...to add insult to injury I had stopped buying any new Lionel the past few years due to this stuff. Decided to give them another shot as I loved the State Set. Credit where credit is due, it is beautiful, but thats about where it stops (literally)

Got about 10 minutes of runtime out of the Bi-Polar before the rear motor failed. I could tell something was up as it started jerking a few times and then smoothed  back out. Finally came to halt a few minutes after. Cab flashing continuously. Any ideas? Something I should even bother taking apart? I'm beyond weary of Lionel service.

Has anyone taken a Legacy Bi-Polar apart in the past?

Side note: The light switch in my Station Sounds car is backwards. OFF is ON and ON is OFF...so if your lights don't come on, give that a try.

I’d have to look in the manual but the continuous cab blinking is actually a “1” blink error code. In most cases means motor is stalled. One would hope that it’s just as simple as something stuck in the drivetrane but if not most likely is a motor or RCMC failure. If you dint see anything your best shot is Lionel Service. My challenger went in for obvious reasons and came back unscathed.

I’m sorry to hear about your mishap with the motor...  however I’m glad to read that you gave credit for it being a beautiful set.  I have this set myself and was pleasantly surprised to see how nicely the engine was done.  The cars are pretty nice as well.  I got the entire set so it was a pretty penny...  and a BIG risk considering the issues recently seen with color mishaps.  I feel very fortunate that it was done well...!
