That was my first take as well, and I almost sent the seller an email indicating I'd be interested if "toyspecialist" didn't want it. Then I got to thinking, "Do I spend $550 on a yard switcher? Or spend a few bucks less and order a new ES44AC?"
This is where Lionel's pricing collisions can be frustrating... and we just never know where the dust is gonna settle. Up until this year $550 for a brand new, unopened VL Genset would have been considered a worthwhile deal. But now with the newest ES44's pushing into that territory, I'm not so sure. Yes, I know the Genset is VL, and all that... and some will say I'm comparing apples and oranges. But it is what it is. So for me, in this case the ES44 won out in my mind -- just one of them though... MAYBE. I still don't like the fact that street prices went from $399 to $525-ish in a few months. So I haven't picked up the phone to pre-order one. At least not yet. And I certainly won't be ordering FIVE of them. Lionel already lost that business for sure.

Since when has toyspecialist become the new hangout consignment spot…???!!!!! lol
Since you post ads for all these hard to find items then hem and haw when they become available
toyspecialist has created a niche personal shopper category.
Matt.
No shoplifters allowed..!!!

I dont understand what the problem was. Exactly what you were looking for at an awesome price never even out of the box no less and you missed it. It landed right in your lap. All you had to do was say "Yes"

I'm not sure I follow your logic. I'd take the VL Genset over a standard issue ES44AC all day long. With their prices being so close now, it makes that decision even easier. Where I might have once settled for the ES44 in part because of the price difference, now I'd rather just spend the few extra dollars to get a much nicer engine (even though the logo is backwards).
Hey Guys,
I have a deal pending from lazar ..!!!! Yaaaaaaaa,…!!!! Thanks again for all your help..!!!
I also have one for sale, brand new in box, for $595.00 plus shipping. Purchased new, never got around to using it, comes with everything a new one does in the box. If you are looking for a BNIB MINT one, this is it. Email in profile or just send inquiry to: robertgromen@gmail.com
Thanks toyspecialist, hope you like yours.
I am not an authority on whats the Right Price, but, I have the Vision Line UP version and its simply amazing. The three different smoke stacks come on as needed and the sounds are awesome. Its far better than the legacy versions that came out a year or so later. The Visionline NS, and the Visionline UP are in a class of their own. Happy Railroading. Do You have a Vision?
Wow…!!! I guess I will have to hire a valet service to park everyone's car
Mill,
Why don't you serve up some of that soul food for everyone…!!!! lol
Isn't this the clearing house for VL NS Gensets and raw chicken dinners?
Westinghouse,
Get up on stage with that chicken outfit and dance and sing something for us..!!! lol
Gourmet...
Mill,
Get back in that kitchen and make some more soul food..!! We've got hungry people here with money to spend…!!
Matt,
Get your Ipod out and play some of those Lionel Richie tunes that you like…!!! lol
