Was going to purchase an item as a gift that was last cataloged in 2013 and we were told there would only be 1 more month of warranty because of Lionel's 3 year/1 year policy. Is that true? Don't want to put the family thru any potential agony if that is the case.
If we purchased something last cataloged in 2014 it would still have a full year warranty available?

I just went to the Lionel site this AM to answere that question myself.
its probably best and 1st hand if you do that. It's not exactly easy to repeat when you read it's entirety. Best to interpret yourself I think anyway.

From the Lionel Warranty posted on their site:
Products that are more than 3 years old, from date of manufacture, are not applicable for warranty coverage, even if they have never been sold prior to this date. (Under no circumstance shall any components or labor be provided free of charge.)
As Larry wrote, I suggest you read the warranty in its entirety.
Thanks guys. I understand their 3year/1 year warranty is based on manufacture date versus catalog date. I have emailed them directly to inquire where we may find the items production dates for warranty purposes as I cannot locate the information on the website. If they really insist on this item for a gift and it is out of warranty maybe used at a much cheaper cost is the way to go?
