I came across one of my "where'd I put it" engines.  It's a 2028 PRR GP.  I took the shell off and there's a piece of electric tape inside that says: Long Rail Repro.

I'm having trouble with this.  It sure looks like a regular shell.  The lettering is appropriately faded.  Inside the shell is stamped with raised letters saying:  PART No. 2328-5

I googled Long Rail repros and all I got was images of a variety of toys including plastic shell diesels. But, very few of them and not post-war.  And, none like mine.  None of the pictures are annotated so I think that they are worthless.

So, does anyone have any information regarding this?

I'll appreciate any help in this regard.

Alan

UPDATE: 1/22/18

I've had 63 people look at this topic without a single reply.  This is a good thing.  In other words, no replies means that my shell is probably original.

Thanks for nutten,

Alan
