For those interested, here is an update on the M.E.W. wheel production.

We have produced the AF 'O' red spoke electric wheels, and AF wide gage electric wheels for immediate shipment.  I just finished some sets of the AF 'O' large steam engine wheels. We are also up-dating some of this tooling .   We have in stock a few of the lead / trailing trucks.            The Lionel std. steam & electric wheels are very close. We have had an ongoing issue w/ re-mounting the 75 year old tooling. The wheel casting molds were re-worked and the castings are fantastic. These wheels have been de-flashed, reamed & painted. The rim tooling has been resolved and although production is slow, we will have wheels within a few more weeks.           The Lionel 'O' steam 261 style wheels are cast and have been de-flashed. They need to be reamed, drilled , tapped & painted. The rims are formed and will go to be nickel plated next week.   Lionel 752 style wheels are back in stock for the present.                  The AF smaller 'O' steam wheels castings are completed, ready to be reamed, drilled , tapped & painted, however we have not found the tooling for the rims yet. These wheels might be delayed until summer.           The Ives wide gage wheels will be in the fall. The wheel castings are run.           Ives 'O' gage wheels I will need help on from you folks. There are currently NO MOLDS for 'O' wheels.  I would appreciate any input on what is needed.  (I am completely 'in the dark on Ives trains , as I am and have always been a Lionel man).          The complete M.E.W. inventory in stock so far can be found on our site  under M.E.W.         "The Old Man"

Please make the red wheels DARK red. I have re-painted MTH wheels, and it takes hours to do it right. The MTH wheels are so bright red, that ruins the appearance of an original loco. Like a nice original black 400E that just need wheels.

Put MTH red wheels on, and you may as well put florescent red plastic wheels on the thing! It totally takes the antique toy train appearance away.

It is so good to see some MEW parts start to come back. Also, please stamp the brass & copper trim pieces out of brass & copper. And not stamp steel, and then paint them with brass or copper paint the way MTH does their brass & copper stamped trim pieces. So of us like a little patina, and strip off the clear coat. Do that with a copper smoke stack from MTH, and you get a bare piece of steel. I'll be glad to pay the extra.

The wheels will be dark red.  Our parts will be copper, brass, or nickel, NO steel painted!!

My son Harry iii found a 2003 M.E.W. catalog on line, w/ all of the old part numbers and also pictures, which will be a tremendous help in my identity search to get these items on line.

Another note!!

Our phone system is down ( we were supposedly up-grading w/ Comcast for more phone lines)  and ran into a phone # snag. Our original # will not be available again until about  March 12th. Tomorrow we should have a "TEMPORARY" number ??    Harry
