Ready or not, the middle of the week is upon us.  Wednesday is considered the most productive day of the work week.  Let's see if the Midweek Photo thread adds to that, or distracts us, LOL.

The past week was not very photogenic for me.  A lot of work when the trains were running, and not much happening when I wasn't busy.

For Memorial Day weekend, Steamtown in Scranton, PA held an event called "Troops and Trains".  It had a number of World War II re-enactors, and I caught them erecting their tents on Friday afternoon.  The above photos tell you that people interested in military history and old trains also have an interest in old autos.

The main tent is up.  Other smaller tents will come and be fully ready on Saturday.  The weather was gloomy until late in the afternoon. I did get these photos on Sunday in the sunshine.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day weekend.  Perhaps you caught a photo of a train or two.  If so, post them here.  Long days are upon us allowing for more photographic opportunities, especially for trains that normally run at times of the day that are normally dark.

Enjoy your week!

Couple from the UP's ex Missouri Pacific line at Jefferson City, MO. Jeff City is a crew change on the St. Louis-Kansas City route. The train will soon leave the Missouri River alinement and roll the 186 miles to Kansas City across the rollercoaster profile of the Sedalia Sub.

A week and a half ago I went to Chicago for the annual Center for Railroad Photography & Art convention.  I've been five or six times now.  Met up with none other than Mitch Goldman!  I talked a couple of others into hauling my sorry rear downtown to ride the Loop trains on Saturday night.  Mitch went along.  A good time was had by all!  Maybe too good--we didn't get back to our hotel until 3am!  I spent all day Friday walking around downtown in the rain, and all of Sunday afternoon too.  I shot  three rolls of Ilford HP 5 and half a roll of X3200 film with  my c.1942 Leica IIIc and 1940s vintage Leica lenses 28/35/50/90mm.  I had a lot of fun and like the results I got!  It inspired me to make a video out of it, even.  Shots are from the Leica, and the music is "Take 5" by Dave Brubeck c.1959.  It's a good match.   I'll try to post my first ever video here.  I'd appreciate any feedback--it was  more time consuming than I thought it would be.  I have a lot to learn about slideshows!  The Leica has been a favorite of street photographers for decades, and it's still a great choice today.

The shots are highly detailed, and that shows up better on the larger YouTube version:
