Some recent photos taken in Scranton around Steamtown's display areas.  Here is UP 4012, framed by trees in the parking lot, with the Bank Towers building in the distance.

The newest adjustment from last week is the installation of a solar panel on Illinois Central 790's tender.  This allows her headlight to shine without worrying about charging batteries.

That's what I have to offer this time.  Enjoy the remaining days of summer, as back to school/back to work season begins all too soon.  Pleas add to this thread with whatever photos of real trains you can.  See you next week.

Finally, I got a chance this summer to visit a steam operation.  I made it to Jackson St. Roundhouse in St. Paul, MN last weekend.  OK, they don't have any running steam engines there, but the ones that are in pieces are even more interesting to me!  And, what better to photo old steamers with than my 1951 Rolleiflex?  First shot are the drivers from an partially disassembled steamer sitting outside.  Second shot is of the 2156 that is being actively worked on in the shop.  Third shot is of some wheel sets sitting outside the roundhouse.  I liked the harsh light & shadow and couldn't pass the shot up.  I love to take photos that are somewhat abstract, and this is a great place to do that!  Very friendly folks there and they gave me great access.
