I think I have read about all the threads on this forum about these switches but I can't seem to get rid of the sparks and short circuits when my engines (both diesel and steam) go over these switches a slow speed (3-5 mph). The switches are Scaletrax 031 and I have about five of these doing the same thing - as you can see by the pictures attached I have made some modifications so to return them at this point is not an option. Most seem to work correctly in one direction and usually the straight option of the switch.

This is my first experience with trains and the Scaletrax switches so don't be too critical - any advice would be appreciated.

Jim - thanx for your help so far - I have found a way to make the problem go away and that is to put black electrical tape ( about an inch long) at the far end of the center two silver rails where they meet the outer silver rails - no sparks - however I know that this is not the correct fix - I guess I still have a short somewhere - everything you suggested looks good so far with the meter
