Welcome to Week 5, and Happy Independence Day!

Earlier on this board I mentioned that I acquired over a dozen "junk" or derelict motors to develop my repairing skills. The motors were represented to me as Lionel post war production. I don't know what they are or what locomotives they would belong to. Can you help?

To add to interest I intend to post a new motor every week until the inventory is identified. The  expert who I.D.'s each week's motor will be awarded a "Certificate of Awesomeness"  from yours truly as a token of admiration and appreciation. Last week Certificates of Awesomeness were awarded to Ted S, David Johnston, and Chuck Sartor, the latter two with Oak Leaf Clusters.

So I put it to you, expert brothers and sisters, please: 1.) identify the motor; and 2.) Identify the locomotive it was intended to power.

Thanks!

Here is this week's motor:

The pen in the bottom photo is there only to stabilize the motor for the picture.

Good luck!

Pete

That's good enough for me.

Frank confirmed and documented with model designation Roy's initial assessment. So this week, a Certificate of Awesomeness goes to franktrainCofA franktrain Week 5

and to ROYBOY. Since this is Roy's second C of A, his Certificate comes with an oak leaf cluster.CofA RoyBoy Week 5

Congratulations, Brothers!

I did some digging online too and found some photos of Marx motors. Comparing them to the motor at issue I was able to eliminate the 400, 490, 655, and 895 in addition to those mentioned by Roy. The C motor and distinctive brush plate used here looked identical from the port side to the 494, 451, and 3000 , but I couldn't see the gearing from the starboard side so couldn't definitively determine the model.
