Wow, I guess I'm in the minority here.  A LOT of stuff jumped out at me.  Love the new Iowa Interstate paint job.  Like the CP RS-3.  All sorts of great looking  tank cars...33k, modern-day, 8k.  Like the CSX safety train.  Return of the CP Hi-Cube boxcar.  I know there was some other stuff that escapes me at the moment.  I definitely see this as a "glass half-full" kind of catalog!    Better start setting aside some  money.

am sure to the folks just entering the hobby it is a home run.

for me I find the price for big boy while $400 cheaper than lionels 2014 release. the features don't match the $ asking price.

only my opinion am sure some will like the lower cost of it.

now the premier line of cabooses sure look a lot like the k-line models in detail look nice.

not sure what is rerun for the european market but have to say I saw some unique items within it.

In fairness to MTH, the $1599 is the MSRP, the MSRP of the Lionel VL BB was $2699, or an $1100 difference.  The selling price of the VL-BB was in the $1900-2000 range, and I'm sure the MTH BB will not be selling for MSRP either.

I found a few things I like, but overall not a home run for me, largely because the things I would like are astronomically outside my potential budget.  I love the addition of the quillable whistle steam on some models and am looking forward to seeing it in action.  I am a little confused on the A5 pennsy description as it says 18" radius curves, which would be 036.  I would think this engine if any could handle 031 or maybe even 027 curves.  It is an 0-4-0 after all.  It also has a screaming need for a platform between engine and tender.

I really like the WM heavy pacific but it looks a little bigger than what I remember from the one down in Hagerstown.  I will have to look at some photos.

Right now my budget is tighter than I expected so maybe I am being overly critical I see a lots of things I like, such as the 4-4-0 American engines and matching passengers sets.  but overall I think my efforts will still revolve around trying to improve the things I already have with dcs upgrades.

I have to give MTH a lot of credit. they ventured into the 2R scale wheel and the DCC capable O scale years ago....The PS2/3 systems are very nice and one can download any sound file they want...for FREE!

The Big Boy is a great offering. MTH has it in Scale wheels, DCC/DCS, OIL tender (something I had hoped Lionel would offer a simple tender add on with a price of $2600+ MSRP) and with steaming whistle...for $1600 and street price maybe a little less....

Oh, and it can run on 2R and 3R....just about perfect for me...

Now, if they would change that wireless bar with an infra red like Lionel, they will make the ultimate BB...

Also, the J1e with a Centipede tender and scale wheels to run on 0-84" is another great offering....

I'll wait for the secondary market prices for some of the offerings in this catalog.

Lionel's VL BB got me cured from buying anything new....won't do that again

A bunch of reruns, mostly. I might go for a Milwaukee Road GP30, since the catalog art does show the correct AAR trucks. Depends on the actual selling price - MSRP is just about the actual pre-order cost of the Lionel BTO version, which I didn't order because I wasn't going to spend 500 bucks on a diesel. If dealers are offering a decent discount I might just order it. Other than that, nothing that interests me except maybe a tank car or two. Still no new Euro freight cars to go with the BR 44 and the French Mikado.

Bo-ring!

One thing I REALLY like here is that MTH started cataloging the different road numbers with separate stock numbers. It also looks like MTH is separating out the units in their F-units -- cataloging each component separately (now if only they'd power the B-units). This will help avoid the situation where I got three locomotives with the same road number. Down the road it will also make product searching easier.

C&O definitely had 4-6-2 Pacifics,  P-19 class I think.  In many forms however over the years I would guess like many RR.   I see no reason to think they would not have run some passenger train sets at times.

Here is link to one from Google land:  http://model-railroad-hobbyist...c%20490%20011213.jpg

The Seaboard Coast Line waffle box car is great for any 1970's and 1980's freight train.

The ROCK ISLAND and Montana Rail Link PS-2-CD high-sided 3-bay hoppers are exact matches to the real schemes.

I have to get the Grand Trunk Western 53' plug door box cars.

The Auto Carriers have the new Greenbrier Inc. side panels that will look great right with the ES44AC and SD70ACe locomotives.

For some reason though somebody has chosen the wrong number series for the BURLINGTON NORTHERN 4-bay open hopper.  Those types of open hopper were in the BN 522 000 and BN 523 000 series. The 516 000 series is for small, older hoppers.

The SOO LINE GP40 looks like one to get.

I have to see what the SOO LINE Open hoppers match in reality.

The CN 911 scheme is on the correct 33K gallon tank car in the RailKing line. I saw that one in the past year. I will have to order it.

Finally have the Rio Grande SD45 locos for RailKing.

When I purchased my MTH-Premier NS ABBA OCS Diesel engines, they cost (in 2007) $879.90. Now to get the SAME engines it costs $1239.80!!!! I'm glad that I purchased mine in 2007. I spoke to Mike Wolf and I asked him if he would re-run the NS OCS diesel engine set again and he told me no because that would decrease the value of the set. At that time he only made 250 of those sets. Maybe he forgot what he said!!!.................Rogerw.
