MTH DCS Emergency stopped can't re set

Resetting the E stop involves cycling the power.  Just turn it all off and turn it back on.

I tried that in the beginning, and got track power back up, but all kinds of trouble trying to get the engine back up and running, and now there are further screw ups on my part. It is good to know that your sequence is all that it takes to power back up. I thought it should be easier than the mess I have created. Thanks.

Did you also shut down the remote?

I'll note that the next time this happens. In the meantime I will go back to my book of instructions and see what I am missing to try and fix the problem.

FWIW, I had a friend recently do this and got that phone call. What made this an extra layer of a problem was they had the WIU Wireless module plugged  into a separate power source. So when they turned off their power strip- yes, they turned off their main transformer, yes, turned off the AUX power in to the TIU, however, the USB coming from the WIU kept the TIU powered. So when they hit this E-stop, they then had to not just turn off the power strip that they thought they had everything in, but no, another second strip had constant power and due to being a wall wart and plug spacing, that is partially the reason for using a separate strip.

Bottom line- unless you see that power and status indicator in the TIU completely off, it's not reset. Again, given there are actually 3 ways a TIU can be powered (USB - only on an L, Aux, fixed1), and most only know about the 2 (aux, fixed1) can lead to this problem.

That was a joke, sorry. I don't mean to make light of your issue.

All you need to do is shut everything down, track power, TIU, and remote. Then power up as usual. I've used E-stop several times and never had any problems with it starting up again.

EDIT:  If you don't have a copy of the DCS Companion I urge you to get one.

OK Thanks, I'll check e-bay to see if there is one available. To all that have been reading this. My DCS remote has notices on the screen that say Reset TIU; Power Remote; and TIU address 2.  The instruction booklet which is worse than stereo instructions for my old brain, made it sound that if I use one TIU, which I am, then apparently I should see  the remote say TIU address 1....????

No, get #3.  In addition to the wifi / app stuff, which you'll probably need someday, IIRC it has a better-organized index.

The third edition covers operations with the remote, I think it was the last edition before the Wifi. Sounds like the remote has lost the ability to address TIU 1, and your saved engines are linked to TIU 1. It's hard to say for sure but I suspect a factory reset will get you back to square one.

Well I will try to find that way to do a factory reset.
