MTH locosound engine getting static thru TIU variable output 2

Post is still a little confusing.

If you run Locosound on either VAR 1 or 2 by itself does it run fine or is there always static when you use VAR2?

What is the other engine and what is your power supply for VAR1 and 2?   G

Make sure all wire connections are tight.

From your description, I haven't a clue.

1. More confusion, no engines on other tracks.

2. Plug loco sound into var 1 no static

3. Plug into var 2 ALL static!

Forgot to add type of power, Z4000.

Can you turn OFF the DCS Signal to VAR 2?  The Operator's Manual suggests this can be done.  It's curious the shaded box below says the DCS signal does not interfere with TMCC or conventional engines but does not specifically mention Locosound.

Locosound engine's use a high-frequency signal put out by the Railking remote lock-on for its Protocast audio mode.  I wonder if the high-frequency DCS signal on your VAR 2 output is masquerading as that Protocast signal.

Another simple experiment is to swap the VAR1 and VAR2 outputs (i.e., swap which track loop connects to which VAR output).  It would be telling indeed if the bad behavior followed the track loop rather than the VAR output.

Stan2004- have to consult Barry's book or DCS manual to find out how to "turn off" DCS to var2 and fixed 2. Static happens when ever I plug into var2 or fixed 2 when I run engine on var 1. Nothing plugged into var2 or fixed 2 NO static. 

new wrinkle, when static appears put my hand over the 3 rails of that track that the engine is on static goes away,remove hand it comes back.

Menu/System/DCS Setup, select Fixed 2 and press OFF soft key. Repeat for Variable 2.

i think the problem is with the MTH track. I ran same engine on Lionel fast track and on the tubular Lionel and no static out of Var 2 or fixed 2 on other tracks.
