Obviously this is not strictly O-scale, but I have had this problem intermittently with my 2-rail O-scale locos,  but not to this degree.  I recently purchased this loco on eBay, and although it is a few years old, it appears unused.  When the DCS/DCC switch is switched to DCC the locomotive will not move forward or backwards.  The lights and sounds work  just fine as well as the smoke unit (although some function buttons don’t match the function mapping but that is a minor issue) but there no movement whatsoever of the wheels.  They do not appear to be binding as I can move them by hand a couple millimeters in each direction.  I reset the loco to factory default (55-55-55 method) numerous times.  I then programmed in the long address and set CV 29 accordingly.  No good.  I’ve had some of my other O 2-rail locos do this occasionally, but not this persistently.  Straight DC makes no difference.  I don’t have a DCS system.  Anyone with ideas?

Okay, the tech at Original Whistle Stop determined the problem.  I was already aware that O-Scale MTH locomotives used a lot of power, but I was unaware how much power a 1/32 loco requires.  His 24v transformer put out more voltage & amperage than my DCC equipment.  18v and 1-2 amps just couldn’t cut it……the loco literally leaped forward on his test track.
