hi i got a new switch because the last new switch shorted out when i added aux power i got the print out of past wire problems and compared it to the shorted switch and the wires are crossed. I just opened my new one and the wires are crossed.The aux input wire goes to the metal strip and the other red with the heat shrink goes to the board is this correct ?

i have that post and the wires are incorrect i would have thought lionel would have fixed this problem but its still there years after the fix was posted
BTW, the fix doesn't require any soldering. The terminal block is actually three individual terminals assembled into one block so you just lift it off the plastic locating studs, rearrange the three bits in correct order and press the set back onto the locating studs. Done.

It's possible that the switch you bought new was actually manufactured a few years ago and was sitting in someone's inventory. There might be a date on the instruction manual you could check.
