Personally I don't think you owed anybody an explanation.  But I am glad its not because of medical issues.

I'm also glad to hear that your health isn't a factor in the switch. I was wondering if you were tempted to give S scale a try, as you could Scratchbuild and modify much of the necessary rolling stock and structures.

God bless you to improve your health!  As for you changing to HO.......I am a bit jealous because now with sound and remote control (DCC is it?),........ you get a lot more action than you used to in past years.

  And I've seen some very creative layouts that don't have the much vaunted return loop.  Think of it as one less rail to keep shiny!

 

And get some CB & Q equipment (well maybe)

Glad you're OK, Malcolm. Sorry to see you leaving O scale, but glad you're still in model railroading. You're an asset to the hobby in general.

Nothing wrong with HO!!!! I still have all of my collection from my long period in the scale. (1974-1994) And I still dabble in it as there is so much cool stuff.

Just don't leave us here....stop by time to time and inspire us!!!

You don't know me, but I have learned so much from your posts on this forum. You have no idea how many people you have inspired to keep improving (even tho' I have no hope of reaching your level).  Good luck with everything.

 

BTW, I say go with Bangor and Aroostook.  They had so much oddball stuff that would be right up your alley, like TOFC flats made from gondolas.

BTW I've kept an amount of my old HO from years ago even though I became all 2 rail O scale about 1989 or 1990.  I use the "buy now or cry later" theory and some of my HO resin and brass is irreplaceable today. 

 

You really, really are quite the scratchbuilder.  If you ever decide to do prototypes of FGEX wood reefers I know a few of us PRR nuts that would be buyers.

First, hope your upcoming surgery goes smoothly. Not trying to be nosey, but wondering what the other hobby is that you are trying to accommodate. I'm thinking maybe some of the folks here might be able to help (idea wise) if they knew what you were trying to do, like what space you had and what you were trying to put there and such. A lot of smart people here (not me ), so why not put them to work! Maybe you can save that "O".

  Best of luck with your upcoming surgery.

  Your postings have been very inspirational for me, and I hope you keep them coming.

  One suggestion if you do follow through with your HO move. Save at least a few of your O scale items. Save your favorite locomotive and caboose, put them in storage or display them on a shelf because you do not know what the future holds. You might have a great place for a layout before you know it and regret selling all of your "big trains".

Bets of wishes in your upcoming trials and tribulations, God speed!!!!! to a fast recovery. And you should really consider authoring a few tech articles on consistent rivet making I for one really would love to know how you do it .  I wont build cabooses only Heavyweight Passenger cars!!!!
