The SD60 in its environment and I can say the weathering is certainly not there yet. I still see so much what I have to do but that's the fun of the hobby, for me I'm not so easily satisfied. It is not only weathering a Union Pacific model but I like also other roads to do, I would like Sante Fe or Rio Grande but I don't have the diesel models maybe in the future. I like to show how I work I can let you see a completely finish model but that's not me. I hope you like all what I'm doing because in The Netherlands there is nothing and nothing who do almost the same especially not in standard o scale.

a small update step by step further the SD60 you see I'm busy on the back of the locomotive the airbrush will come later and air hoses of course also. The plow is now more rusty on the front of the locomotive the picture is a bit out of focus but later on I make good photo's. Chains on air hoses will be also added.

Did not continue with the weathering at the moment on my SD60 locomotive but took some pictures if the weathering is ok so far so I can see what to do more and yes the fuel tank  but also the trucks more. To make pictures I can see if the weathering is ok on my layout and show you on this forum how I work. The SD60 weathering is of course to an example of a real one but as always what you like. I like this about the weathering it takes some time but at the end you are satisfied and go to the next project.

This one from Key Imports is bizarre in terms of details DC and DCC but is impossible to run it on my layout because of my radius. I saw the locomotive in real life in Sacramento in California number 4294. If I do this in weathering it will be getting bizarre of all that plumbing. So this one is new I dare not to do it, it is so beautiful in every way.

Your Cab Forward has a detail missing on 99% of model steam locomotives - yet visually quite satisfying - that being, connected hoses with couplings between locomotive and tender.

I thought there are hoses but you mean there are more, many models don’t have hoses between locomotive and tender this one is the first I have or you must done it by your self.

Back in the day, late 70s-early 80s, when I was train chasing around Cajon Pass, UP diesels were never grimy, etc. A little road dust, maybe.
SP diesels? Weather away. The more decrepit looking, the better.

I think Mark just praised you for HAVING oil and water hoses to your tender. A little misunderstanding

Ed, that‘s the latest release by Key, right? I think you can not get a higher level of detail and prototype fidelity. The sound files are brilliant! Congratulations!

Ok yes this one is the latest key import model the sound is indeed beautiful and it runs very good and the level of detail is high I can say the same as Kohs engines.

Yes indeed they where but the weathering I do is from a example have a lot of pictures and books they are almost the same as what I do , I like it that’s for everybody different with weathering you can go as for you want I saw diesels from the UP almost rust en dust everywhere but that is the fun of weathering I think.

Thank you, Sarah, I certainly meant it as a compliment.  Wish more locomotives would come with that detail element.

Dear Mark I saw it as a compliment but I thought you meant more hoses this key is owesome in details and the Challenger from Kohs has that level also. I can make better pictures no problem or the Kohs Challenger. Those models are the top of the line in detail both are DCC and DC.

Yes I'm going to one model to a other I can't stop this one a gondola I did the inside with weathering powder and with Revell paint it's amazing what you can do with powder. Is there anyone with experience with powder in O scale I saw a lot in ho. On the end I airbrush the edge of the gondola with grimy black. What is inside is still wet and when it is dry becomes more beautiful I hope...

There is some damage to the rear of CSX 941 especially the handrails (maybe a little on the front, too), a lot along the side of UP 5205, and even a large dent in that first container that seems to match the "flow" of the damage. Not shown are the two CSX motors that are doing the work.

I don’t have one this diesel in o scale, overland did runs maybe some day. I was in the states and saw SD45 diesels from the UP in California but also very dirty and a lot of rust I was sitting there for hours and they had to pull me away.

I think that model railroaders tend to over weather engines and cars that are in active service.  I have observed that most railroads kept their equipment in fairly good shape.  NH Joe

Ed, your modeling and weathering is outstanding. The photos of the yard with SD-60 is the grungiest and most realistic looking yard I think I've ever seen. Everything from the oil soaked gravel to missing ballast and greasy drums.  NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Thank you but I’m still working on the yard try to do it better in detail that’s the fun for me how far I can go.
