I have seen a few examples of a paint shaker that was made from an old jigsaw and an expandable clamp.  What I need is a picture or drawing of a holder to put the tool in to hold the tool while operating.  My concern is the bottle or can that gets launched unintentionally.   Today, I just hold a rag over the clamp and bottle while it shakes.  Needless to say holding a tool while operating and a rag for safety will eventually result in a bad outcome.

Ideas please?

Honestly, you guys seem to be reinventing the wheel. For about $10 just pick up a paint mixer designed to actually mix the paint pigments, not just agitate the carrier to "hopefully" mix with the pigment. Beside, there are a few paints out there that actually say not to shake, although most paints will not be harmed.

Fits all the small bottles we use, battery powered, small to keep near-by your work area.

Just a thought.

Plus it does a really good job breaking up pigments that have settled in the bottom of the bottle.

I made one of these from the nose hair trimmer my wife got me for Christmas one year.

I have my original from about 25 or so years ago, they work like a champ.  I also (its still packed in a box someplace) the original paint bottle shaker.  It has a "V" shaped trough to hold the bottle in place and uses a rubber band.  I also works like a champ.  It uses a small wall-wort for the power.  I think mine came from Micro Mark or Walther's.  Both work very well, the little paint stirrer is more like an emersion blender in miniature, it uses a single AA battery.  If you can still find one, they are worth the money and come in very handy.
