Painting Woodland Scenics Track Bed???

IDK how it will come out but I have painted Ross roadbed with the Fleck stone paint. I have to say you need to experiment yourself. The Ross Roadbed is a stiff foam and doesn't flex like woodlands softer foam roadbed.

AMFLEET, Did you paint your Track Bed as you mentioned?  I may want to do the same.  I'm kind of new at all this but have a layout that'll be Ross outer loops with Rossbed and inner tubular with Track Bed.  No track is laid yet on all plywood table.  Was thinking Fleck stone spray paint like PRRHORSESHOECURVE did on both material... don't know if that'll crack on the Track Bed when flexed.  Think so?  

Will you then screw in the track or glue it to bed and then glue bed to table?  Thought I'd ask while I'm here.

I've painted the Woodland Scenics black foam roadbed.  It absorbed the paint well and stiffened the surface.  If you plan to move the tracks in the future, you'll have to toss the roadbed and start fresh.  Do you have any specific concerns?

NNJ RAILFAN, I'm guessing you painted it (not spray painted) after it was laid out, prior to the track being added?  Did you prime it at all?  Over time did you see any cracks or flacks occurring do heavy engines.  If I do add ballast that won't be for quite some time.

I brush painted it, laid the track and ballasted it, so I can’t say whether any cracks had developed.

That (brush-painted the same color as the surrounding terrain) is the way I also did it in the past, and the way I plan to do it on the new layout.
