Here in Westchester County, New York we have the former right-of-way of the New York Westchester and Boston Railroad. This railroad operated from mid 1912 until the last of December, 1937. This railroad operated from Bronx between the Willis Av. and 3rd Av. road bridges just across the Harlem River from Manhattan. It ran to 2 terminals, one in White Plains at Westchester Av and Bloomingdale Rd. The other terminal was in Port Chester at Westchester Av. along side the New Haven Railroad's tracks. Part of the right-of-way in White Plains is a walking trail. You can access the trail from Ridgeway (Av.) between Mamaroneck Av. and Old Mamaroneck Rd. There are several books published on this railroad and some are currently available. If interested in the books please contact Ed or Tom at Tom's Trains in Ardsley, NY at 914 478 9365.
