I always liked the idea of running some GP7's in a double header configuration. The powered unit coupled with a non -powered unit config appeals to me, so I am thinking about running my LC+ GP7 coupled with a MPC era dummy unit. Road name is Santa Fe. My question: do the MPC era GP7 (or GP9) dummy units have lighting at all?

I sold a custom painted unit. I believe there was lighting in it but I don’t remember. I hope this helps.
The MPC era GP7/9's are EZ to add the 3rd rail pickups. You would need a 2328-200 collector assembly kit or a 2328-170, 2328-173 and a screw and plastic washer to add the needed collector to the bottom of the truck for lights.

Also you can add LED lights, LED lights use DC power not AC. I use use LED Christmas lights.
The only MPC GP7 dummy I own, a 6-8751 Rock, does not have lights.
I have a few MPC non powered units, none have lights. I have switched out shells from some non power to power since the MPC Geeps are single motored and poor pullers.
to answer your question.....some dummys had lights,with few exceptions all can have lights added...you need pick ups and sockets and bulbs...easy to do...if you are lucky find some one scrapping an old pinball or other arcade game...i did,it's loaded with bayonet bulbs and sockets... good luck...joe
