I just completed a PS2 upgrade (about a 4-yr old unopened kit) of a 20-2112 SD-9. Tested fine in conventional mode (lights, direction, horn, bell) with shell installed and secured. Uploaded the sound file with no errors. Started up normally in DCS. Able to add to remote, edit address, name, and sound settings. Added to 2nd remote with no problems. Shut down/startup fine. Started running around the layout when it suddenly jumped in to high speed with no sound or lights. Shut down power to stop it. Now it just runs forward with no lights or sound. Attempted reset by flashing 17V to track does not help. This is my 8th upgrade and I've never seen this behavior and have no idea how to proceed now. What am I missing

Glad you got it.  The jump to high speed with no sounds is explained by the tach, but not loosing lights, nor the run only in forwards.  You may still have an exposed wire.

With just a tach reader issue the engine should have sat silent with DCS waiting for Start up.  When started it should have come up with lights and sounds.  The first time you moved the throttle the engine would go to full speed.  G
