Hello all ,

I have a brand new premiere ps2 Triplex and I am having all kinds of issues with  derailing. I have just been converting to gargraves from lionel due to derailing  and for some reason the triplex is still  derailing . It is derailing at the tender drivers and sometimes front engine trucks. The radius should be 072 . Would you please look at the pictures and advise what in the world I am doing wrong because this is really getting ridiculous.

Also the triplex has a broken horn or whistle? The broken part of the screw part is still in the engine. Any way to extract the broken screw  and replace it with a new  whistle, horn? Please see the last picture.

Any, any help will be well appreciated, thanks much and Merry Christmas to all

If my recollection is correct this engine should navigate O42 curves with no issues. My first suggestion would be to spread all those bunched up ties back to where they should be in order to keep a consistent gauge on your track and it will make your curve radius much smoother to navigate. If it's derailing at a track connection I would close the gap up snug on the connection and sand the top of the rail to get rid of any burr's or bump's to avoid any wheel flange's from catching.

As far as whistle repair you could cut the end off of a small nail and try super glueing the end of the nail to the screw and let it cure good then screw it out. If the screw has thread locker on it this probably won't work but it won't damage anything to try. I've gotten screws out this way in the past.

Another way would be to remove the shell and drill the hole out threads and all and just glue a replacement whistle in. The reason for removing the shell is to keep any metal or shavings out of your electronics and motor's.

Guys, the cover between the engine and tender was positioned under the tender floor and that's what caused the tender drivers to derail. One issue solved thanks to the guy who suggested looking at that issue. Also, working the track is making a huge difference and everything seems to be running fine now thanks to all your help.

Thank you very very much, Jerry
