Question about performing a TMCC Reset on the Legacy Cab-2

How are you performing the reset code?

So what's the problem.

You may want to confirm the reset code. What board are trying to reset? Lionel, EOB. ERR?
Sounds like its resetting already under 7...

Nick, this may be a silly question, and if so then I apologise in advance, but are you pressing the AUX softkey and not the AUX-1 or AUX-2 keys?

Set it to cab-1 mode and issue the command

This is a stock Lionel TMCC steamer with wireless tether and the manual confirms its specific reset code is 74. Here's exactly the procedure I'm doing as outlined by MartyE in a similar thread a while back:

 

1) Power off

2) Engine switch to PGM

3) Power on

4) Type ID of locomotive to be reset

5) Press Info

6) Press Aux (the one on the info screen, NOT the actual AUX 1 and 2 buttons)

7) You are prompted to enter the TMCC reset code

8) Enter code, engine whistles to confirm

 

My problem is in the middle of the final two steps. I'm trying to enter 74, but the engine whistles before I can press 4, which means to me it's just taking 7 as a reset code and that can't be right.

 

Perhaps the Cab-1 mode is the culprit. As I'm back at school now I won't be able to test for a while, but I will get back on this as soon as I'm home next weekend.

When you program, whether you are using cab 1 or 2 you will get the sound after pushing each number on the key pad. Some K-Line engines use 7 as the program number. You will get the sound  after pressing each number, it is confirming the re-set.
