I'm trying to clone 5 remotes and have used the MTH consumer loader program to do it.  I have assigned separate numbers to the remotes (as described on  page 118 in Barry's book).  However when I use the start up function on the remote for an engine that is on the track at position #21 on the remote, I get the response, "engine not on track".  Then I hit "Read" function on the remote, the engine in the #6 position comes up on the remote. Then, when I hit "start-up" on that engine (#6) the engine in #21 position will start-up. Does anyone have ideas what I missed or am doing wrong?

Mike,

All engines were given a specific ordered number in this one master remote. The engine added may have been added as #6, the first available open number, but was edited to #21

In that case, the odds are good that the edit of the DCS ID# from 6 to 21 failed because of a weak battery, and when power to the engine was turned off, it reverted to DCS ID# 6.

Thanks Barry, we'll re-enter the engine with the  problem to the (master remote), along with other club member's engines not present. Then, with the same procedure, Download the master remote to the PC, and then clone remotes from the PC, I believe, at least (5) remotes.  At that point the intent was everyone is on the same page.

We (the train group) seems to struggle with battery problems.
