Does anyone know of a situation where a sizeable amount of railbanked rail trail has been converted back to a functioning railroad? This would be the point of railbanking. I just wonder if it has actually been acted upon.

Rail banking has been used in North Carolina for years.
The CSX (Piedmont & Northern) line from Mt Holly-Belmont to Gastonia,NC was abandon in the mid 80's and later rail banked for future service as a commuter line or freight carrier.
The line was fully restored in 2011-2013 and placed back into service in 2013 and operated by Patriot Rail. Other lines around the state have also been railbanked for Corridor Preservation such as the former Southern Murphy Branch which is now the Great Smokey Mountain Rwy.
