Hey all!

So after I finally got my DCS system in, I was able to set up and start running this new Imperial Daylight model with no issues!

I think it is very sharp and will look even better when I finish my layout and pull the Southern Pacific Daylight coaches out and run them behind the engine!

I really love the added mars light and the chains hanging down on the trucks of the tender!

I will add my concern to the already known issue about the adhesives used on this engine, though. The side skirting on my Daylight, while not pulled in front of the separately applied grab irons like a few people have mentioned, is still rather "loose" looking and is not fully adhered to the side of the locomotive properly. Since I do not have a pair of clamps, I will have to see if a small amount of superglue will do the trick here.

MTH needs to take note of this and up the anti here. It would only be a matter of time before someone gets a model that has completely fallen apart while still in the box!

Overall, though, I am pretty pleased with this engine!

My initial impression of the sounds on this engines' PS3 board were good. It seemed as though they really tried to tailor the actual Daylight specific soundtrack to this engine!

That being said, some of the sounds, particularly the chuffs seem a bit trite and not as fluid as the generic sounds from other steamer PS3 soundboards. I honestly don't think that this is too much to quibble about, but it is something I think is worth mentioning.

The horn/whistle and bell sounds are quite nice and the soundtrack that they produce is pretty wholesome. Overall, I think they are a nice improvement over the old sounds.

The idle sounds like the cab chatter and sounds from the engine also sound pretty good.

The question still stands though, why did they upload this imperial engine with a different set of PS3 sound tracks than the premier model?

I have yet to hear other engines that have the slightly different sounds that this one has.
