According to the April 2013 issue of Model Railroader, which did a review, Walther's has introduced a nice, scale length, 85', RDC-3, as half as big as it should be, in HO. And one of the roadnames is Rock Island, so a three rail model of same could have been used here. O scalers are orphans, again....

Omnicon produced brass S Scale RDC 1's, 2,s and 3's back in the late 1980's. They're scarcer than hen's teeth today.

Another "if you blinked, you missed them" were the late 1990's American HiRail resin RDC 1's and 3's, "blown up" from Athearn HO models.
Most of them were DC HiRail. I had AHR build me a set with scale wheels.

After all, The 'D' in RDC, if memory serves me, stands for 'Diesel'.
We've had lots of "shorties" from the sumos...Postwar, RailKing, Williams....but I can't recall a scale...a.k.a., Lionel Scale, MTH Premier, Atlas Master, 3rd Rail/GGD, et al...version of the -1, -2, -3, ...-4?. Lots of roadnames to be applied, too.
Sound + a bit of smoke, plated ABS bodies, etc.,....would be way cool, methinks!

3rd Rail offered them in O scale -- 2-rail and 3-rail. My understanding is that it was a small run. They were pricey, but from what I heard they were very nice.
Division point supposedly did them in O scale 2-rail quite a while ago. Never saw one, though.
MTH did them in Rail King and they were not scale. Didn't look too bad, but were too small. They also did non-powered add-ons. Was hoping they'd do full-length in Premier but that never happened.
It has been a well known fact that "WE" as those who enjoy O-Gauge/Scale can have anything we want. First, one has to be able to sholder the expense.

Not sure all above posts address the RDC-3!...Third Rail at the time said they didn't
think enough roads used the "3" to warrant producing it. For me it is the most utilitarian and branch line logical one of the series. Although I would guess at 85
feet, there were branch lines one couldn't operate on, nor will a scale one likely
look good or operate on 0-27. I never heard of the American Hirail resin one, or would have tried to glom one, although it was probably YOU provide the trucks and power. I might have extended chasses on Marx or AMT RDC shorties to get a cosmetically attractive one, depending on which, if either, had prototypical truck side frames. Didn't both Lionel and MTH include shorty RDC-3's in two car sets, too expensive and collectible to upgrade to scale length with a Zona saw? Somebody in Florida once offered a kit for an O scale RDC, that I thought could be kitbashed into a "3", but that kit has not been found by me. It might have been hard aluminum alloy, like Kasiner cars, and not easy material in which to cut windows and doors.
