Running Atlas O gauge Handcar on DC: Will it burn up?

Hey Folks,

I have a great Atlas O gauge Handcar. I am currently running it on AC track power.

But, I am thinking of putting it on a small isolate track and running it on DC power. I know the reverse unit (if it has one) won't work.

Will running this thing on DC power create a risk of burning it out, in the short or long term, as opposed to powering it with AC?
