I got a request to show my trolleys or streetcars in another thread.  We might as well make it a trolley line thread.

At the present time because of limited space I have a very small and limited trolley line.  The initial line is a small Super / EZ streets D16 oval and a D21 oval is is on order.  I have an Atlas O Industrial Rail Los Angeles Transit trolley, a K-line trolley, a SPTC PCC car and a Corgi two rail PCC from another time. I am being tempted by a Bachmann Peter Witt.

My plan is to eventually create a L shaped figure 8 trolley layout with the 90 degree junction as a transfer corner (a place where trolley lines met and the traffic attracted larger buildings and businesses).  At this point I really only have one building, a MTH Automat and I have a partially completed shoe shine stand.

I like the Atlas and K-Line trolleys because of their clerestory roofs.

The Atlas O trolley seems to be based on New Orleans Public Service 453. This group of wooden trolleys was built in 1906 by the American Car Company to the Brill Semi-Convertible designed as 300-324 for the New Orleans Railway & Light Co.  In 1918 the cars were renumbered 450-474, the semi-convertible sides were removed, steel sides and platforms ends were installed--which explains why a wooden trolley would have rivets!! All 450s were scrapped in 1935 except NOPS 453 which survived as a non-operating training car and currently resides in the St. Charles line Carrolton barn unrestored.

Similar cars also built in 1906 ran in Lisbon, Portugal until 1996, with being heavily modified and 8 out of the original 40 almost entirely intact after 90 years.

The K-Line trolley is over sized height-wise but is very close for length and width. These 1906 Brooklyn trolleys could be operated as closed cars in the winter or open cars in the summer.  The K-Line model shows the winter configuration.

I'm going to be building a small trolley line myself on a small dining table I ordered which is supposed to arrive this week.  It will be a relatively simple layout using SuperStreets and all the Woodland Scenics buildings I have acquired, and will be located in my bedroom (the only space still available).  I'll post photos once I have something to post.

Very nice!

Thanks. I learned a lot and am learning more trying to make this run smoother. Right now the 3 rail is in use. I will try using the overhead wire in the near future. It was sort of fun but hats off to all overhead folks. Installing is a lot easier said than accomplished. Having two people would be better than soling it which I did for all but three connections.

Looks good and sounds GREAT!  clickity clack!  Which trolley is this?

Its a MTH Bump and Go trolley.  The 30-2545 Center City trolley is similar  to the car in the video. It needs O-27 curves but is reasonably priced and available. TMack also has that trolley on his elevated line, above.

Gents,

Being in S, there are very few trolleys, but I had to have one on my (still in progress) layout.  It's from Putt, and runs on track sunk into the table surface with the rail head .020" above the road surface.  So please excuse the unfinished look.  The line runs from my downtown to the train station, then returns via an under track route.  Eventually I plan on installing a reversing circuit to cycle it back and forth between the station and downtown.

There will be three trolley lines on my layout, but this is the only one that is complete. Currently under construction is a point-to-point trolley line, and there will be a mimic of the New York City Third Avenue Railway someday.

The trolley cars I run are MTH Rail King (Third Avenue Railway & Lehigh Valley), Western Hobbycraft (Johnstown & Third Avenue Railway), Corgi (Steinway Lines) and Lionel (Third Avenue Railway).

My next trolley cars will be Connecticut Company and Brooklyn Osgood Bradley open cars.

Absolutely ugly, I love it.  I wish I had those loads.  I might run a electric trolley line some day, on my soon to be layout, so I will have to include something like this.

Bill Robb liked your topic reply. Re: Show us your trolley line

Here are a couple of photos I hope will be of interest. I was born in St. Louis so

it's no surprise that one of the photos shows a STLPS PCC and a United Railways Peter Witt (wrong color for United Railways).

That looks really nice!  How did you embed the 2 rail into your Spackle road?
