Recently, many of you followed the private car "Sierra Hotel" conversion project created by master model builder Malcolm Byrd in a separate post on this forum. The work involved taking an Atlas O California Zephyr Dome/Dorm/Lounge car and modifying it to include the open platform as well as dome and lower lounge interiors to replicate the actual Sierra Hotel car. This converted model is highly accurate, as the prototype Sierra Hotel was created from the Burlington's "Silver Lounge", which was one of the CZ mid-train Dome/Dorm/Lounge cars.
The Rockford O Scalers are honored to have this model operating on our layout to remind us of the great times we have had riding on this private car over the years.
