Came across this while looking for something else.

When Winter Comes - Snowfighting in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, California, during the winter of 1951-1952 when heavy snowfalls caused havoc on the railroads. The film includes scenes of Southern Pacific cab-forward steam locomotives, rotary snow plows and related snow removal equipment. Also many picturesque scenes of the snow covered wilderness.

Awesome. Although we are bone dry in the Sierras this year the potential for 818 inches (34 feet) of winter snowfall is real. I've seen the entire two story ski lodge buried at Mammoth mountain ski area. And the snow is typically heavy and wet -- often referred to as "Sierra Cement". A whole lotta power and hard work going on in that video.
