I create a lashup with the locomotives sitting on a track powered by the Fixed 1 channel of TIU 1 (I have two TIUs).

When the layout is powered off, sits for a day, and is powered back on, if the locomotive lashup is still sitting on A track powered by Fixed 1 of TIU 1, all is okay.  It retains it's lashup and settings.

If it is sitting on a track powered by Fixed 2, TIU 1, the settings are lost and I have to create the lashup all over again.  Batteries are fully charged in both locomotives.  Turn it off, physically move the locomotives back to a track powered by Fixed 1, and it acts normally like the power was never turned off.

I repleted the exact sequence with a separate lashup and the same thing happened.

What the heck is going on?

Kerrigan,

the settings are lost

What does that mean, exactly?

Does it mean that the engines won't come out of the Inactive Engine List? Also, are you using DCS 5.0? If not, and you're still on DCS 4.20, there's a bug that I've probably told you about more than once that's getting you.

The solution is to upgrade to DCS 5.0. Until you do that, there's no point discussing your lashup issues.

This and a whole lot more is all inThe DCS Companion 3rd Edition", available for purchase  from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book.

Did it work ok before?  My setup similar to yours using 4.2. Three years and running...very stable...so stable i have not gone to 5.0 yet

I'm curious which tiu was used to add the engines before creating the lash-up.

I might try slipping tiu #1 back into normal mode to see if fixed  1  and fixed 2 (tiu#1) will now  remember the lash-up.  There were a few nasty bugs  with super mode 4.2.

The lashup was created on TIU 1, on Fixed 2 instead of Fixed 1 and when I changed it around, if I built it on Fixed 1 it's okay.  By lost, Barry, I meant it loses the lashup settings, the smoke comes back on , etc.  It's like it goes back to the pre-lashup settings.  I can work around it by making sure I park it on the same track it was added on.  Signal strengths look okay, in the 8-10 range all places on the layout.  Probably upgrade to 5.0 when I have a day or two to mess with it.  Have an older PC to work with; I can usually bend it to work with fiddling.  Everything else works fine on 4.3, just this lashup thing.  I only run one lashup now anyway, the coal turbine upgrade to two master units.  Thanks for the hints/input!

Rather than go through the pain of upgrading again, I'll live with the problem and the work-around.  Yes I have an older PC and yes it's a PIA to use it to upgrade, but it's not worth it to me to buy a new one just to upgrade MTH software.  Thanks for the suggestions and yes, Barry, I have all your books and reference them faithfully when looking for help and suggestions.
