          nice 0-8-0 Mark !!

Thank you Brian.  It is out for repair right now.  I got it off the shelf to run last week, and I noticed a rattling sound in the tender.  Here there was a surface mount capacitor rattling around inside.  I could see where it had been on the circuit board.  Well, I may have an electronics background, but I knew I had to send it to an MTH certified technician.  Actually that is the first time I have had to get repair on an MTH engines since I got into DCS 6 years ago.

Good stuff everyone! Rich may have gotten tied up so I'll chime in since I'm bored still waiting for Con Ed to remove the tree from our dead-end street (still blocked in).

Just some thoughts...

BAR GP7 #63/Johan, Beautiful layout and realistic weathering...you are in another league!

RPMCOBRA, Thanks.

Andy/SILVERLAKE and RSJB18, Nice shelves that are not overwhelming.

Mark Boyce, Nice 0-8-0!

OKHIKER, That #227 needs some close-ups!

Since I posted a vintage photo earlier today, here is my prewar #228.

I always look forward to switcher Saturday great photos and nice interactions from all contributors.

Hey Guys,

Sorry I was missing in action yesterday, I had to get a tree taken care of here at the house, thank God it fell the direction it did though, I shiver just thinking about it.

Anyway, you guys did a great job keeping things rolling.  Here's a picture of my two dockside switchers, NYC X-8688 (Lionel 6-28650) vs. NYC #9990 (MTH 30-1243-0), both are nice little engines, the Lionel one came to me "banged up" from the bay, I ordered some replacement parts and also plan on stuffing a couple crew members in the cab when I get a chance.

I'll attach a few other random pictures of things around the layout too, and of course the tree!

See you guys next week...Rich

What is the product number of this docksider? Would like to buy one.

MELGAR

Hey Melgar, I'll jump in for John here, I believe this one is Lionel 6-38601, they are actually one of the less common Lionel Dockside switchers as I don't see them pop up on the bay very often.

Do you guys display your switchers , do they live on the layout or do they live in storage?

Hey Andy, I like that little shelf, I might have to try to build one.  Lately I seem to have 3-5 switchers around on top of the layout in various places and the rest in their boxes.

So I'll be the dummy and ask, can someone (@Steamer ?) explain what that ugly box is doing on top of those pretty ladies?

Water tank.  A small amount of coal is carried in the cab.

These are shop goats used to move dead locomotives and/or tenders around the shop areas.  These locomotives are converted from tendered 0-6-0's.

So, I’m falling way behind here...    I kinda lean to Legacy engines, what are the top three(diesel or steam) I should keep an eye out for?

The Lionel Legacy S-2's show up here on SWSAT every so often, they look pretty nice.

My club has an older Legacy GP7 which is awesome, I'd love to get one for home.

Lionel has a Genset Legacy switcher which I haven't seen posted here yet, anyone have one?

And of course stretching the definition of switcher, the recent Lionel Legacy GP30 is supposed to be incredible.

There's a PRR Legacy scale B6SB which I'd love to see one of these days.
http://www.lionel.com/products...motive-1670-6-82184/

There's a few scale 0-8-0 legacy steam switchers out there which are really nice, they are fairly recent.

And there's always this one:  Lionel Legacy 6-84507 New York Central & Hudson River S2 Electric #3207

Anyone else have suggestions?

Thanks Rusty, makes sense but I had to ask!

Heading off to Sunday to-do's, everyone have a great day...Rich

WOW! Took 20 minutes to catch up from yesterday morning.

Rich- you are very lucky that tree went to the left. You may want to consider clearing more away from the house.

Tom- I hope you get out of your block soon.

Patrick- very sorry to hear about your Uncle. Sounds like he was quite a character.

Johan- love the custom switcher. I'm in for Chum too.

Melgar- I have both of the small tanks, Lionel 0-6-0, and the MTH 0-4-0. They are both great switchers. Very well made. The 0-6-0 took a dive to my floor recently and survived with nothing more than a small chip on one of the front steps. They are all die-cast bodies.

Brian- the photos just keep coming!

Everyone have a great week. See you next SWSat!

Bob: Thank you very much. Let´s see is the winner Anchor or Chum?

Johan

The last of Lionel's mechanical bell ringing switchers circa 1989 and 1990.  Western Maryland NW2 and Southern Pacific NW2.  Despite a negative comment or two on this forum about their operational capabilities both of these NW2's run and pull equally as well as their early 1951 to 1954 brothers and I believe share the same type motors.  IMG_1614
