I have this set along with the other 2 Warhorse sets and all of the add on cars.
I got lucky with mine, mine wasnt weathered all that much and others i have seen were over weathered by the factory. I like the sounds in the J for the warhorse set, but the Whistle in the Santa Fe Hudson set, can be beat!

I have the Santa Fe Warhorse set. Like so many others here, it is my only weathered train. I’m going to have to pull it out and run it some day soon.
I was unaware that there were additional cars for the set. Can anyone tell me how many/item numbers for the addition cars??? Thanks.

There was as add on car for each set. However, the add on cars were NOT weathered.
I will try to post the numbers, let me dig them out.

Thanks ZW... I wonder what they were thinking when they didn’t weather the add-on!!!
Here is the add on car on the right. This is my favorite set. The lack of weathering is almost imperceptible to me. Maybe a little chalk work would tone it down a bit.. What do you guys think?

John, I agree. I don't notice the difference. While the coal hoppers aren't overly weathered on my N&W J Warhorse set, a non-weathered car would defiantly stand out.
Today I took the add on "Chief" car and one of the original set cars outside in daylight and what do you know... the add on car is indeed factory weathered! Not as heavily as the original cars (the set cars were weathered lightly to begin with) but weathered all the same.
The add on "Chief" is on the right where you can definitely see a lighter yet present weathering effect.
I wanted to clarify my earlier incorrect observation.
