New to ORG, This is my first post - unbelievable resource!

The engine went off the test track and the DCS stopped working. I can regulate the voltage with the ZW but no dcs. DCS AON does nothing for that channel. I can however get variable 2 to work (DCS).  I checked the diodes and all but one display OL on the multimeter diose check. One shows a voltage of 2.2 dc volts (second from the right). Any help would be appreciated

If you're getting full range variable voltage and no shorts on the channel, the TVS and FET's are most likely fine. I can't say from what you posted exactly what the symptoms of the failure are.  Does the variable voltage from the remote still work on that channel?

If only one channel has lost DCS, I'd start with the 74ACT244 chip for that channel, that would be my top suspect.

What "diodes" are you checking the TVS diodes?

I check all of the diodes and double-checked the ones in front of the output side. Only one did not give me an "OL" and it read 2.2 V using the diode selection on my 87v. The variable 1 input to output 1 runs the ps train conventionally through the ZW but will not go into dcs. I  have not checked the fixed channel side, I'm waiting for my PS2 SD70 to show.

What do you mean will not go into dcs, what prevents checking fixed one if you where able to check var2?  Do you have a Protosound 2 or 3 train?

If your saying you can't regulate voltage with DCS on VAR1, then that is a FET issue.  Probably have one or more shorted and your passing voltage directly through.  That can be repaired, and I do them.  E-mail in profile.  G
