One last obvious question ... just checking for fear of mistakes:

The TVS diodes often recommended here on the OGR forum (from Digi Key - 1.5KE36CA - for use around ZWs, and elsewhere) being bi-directional, when I install one at the Fastrack track level connecting one diode end to HOT and the opposite diode end to COMMON just before track connection, it does NOT matter which TVS diode end connects to which wire - correct!

I have them on the ZWs across output posts that way, but moving them out closer to trains at track level in many possible places ... I just thought it best to ask the dumb question now before installing other TVS Diodes!

Thanks, Ken

Hi GRJ,

I realize this post above about installing TVSs is elementary but after my TMCC Lockon 'goof' I am sensitive about mistake avoidance. Do I understand correct - the direction does not matter?

A second question --> where can one get the TVS installed in newer locomotives? Losing one due to a overload would be more than painful!

- I have two New Vision, four (three New, one LN) Legacy, and two (LN) TMCC engines - patiently awaiting my getting my new layout running.

Ken, you're correct.  Because the TVS diodes you're referencing are bi-directional, either lead can be connected to Hot and the other lead connected to Common.  In other words, they don't have a polarity like normal diodes.

Regarding installing TVS in your locomotives, are you looking for someone local or are you willing to ship them?  If shipping is an option, you are welcome to contact me at the email address in my profile to discuss this further.
