Welcome back.  As you can see 'ol #247 is loosing body fluids.  The scent of her diesel fuel has attracted an "Oil Snake" that is now just three miles away.  It doesn't look good, but this is natures way.

With her headlight starting to dim, time seems to be running out.  In a desperate attempt to summon help 247 musters enough pressure to blast her horn for what maybe her last time.

But wait... her distant cousin a new set of Alco PA's hears her cry for help and can be seen "steaming" to her rescue.

Will he make it in time?

Where ATSF 247 is in the pit... did they REALLY have to put up that DERAIL sign to tell employees that it was derailed? BN employees would notice it was derailed right away ;-)

I am pretty sure that sign was there long before 247 hit the bottom of the the pit.

the Train wreck at Gare Montparnasse, Paris, France, 1895 picture is what started the collection for me, always a classic!

Makes you wonder what the next 2 seconds might have been, were it not for those AMAZING cables strung on the flimsy poles.   Clearly from the two photos, it is the incredible tensile strength of those three cables that impeded the forward progress of EMD's finest!
