I've watched a few videos, is the bunting only on the engine??

Can it be removed??

The bunting is on both the locomotive and tender. The bunting could be removed from the locomotive pretty easily, but it would probably not be able to be reattached.

The bunting on the tender is a little harder. It will definitely leave holes in the tender (where the brass sprues go through and get bent over to hold it in place. I also imagine it would require some paint work to look "stock".

It's a shame that Lionel didn't attach this stuff with neodymium magnets. Maybe they'll read this post and consider doing it this way in future specially-decorated releases.
