Can anyone please tell me if they have a Weaver scale GG1 (for three rail track) and do you happen to know its maximum current draw? (starting, running under load of 4 or 5 seventy-foot heavyweights)
Are there two motors in these models? Are the motors, exclusive of all the electronic controls, capable of using DC?

I had one of these a while ago. I converted it to DCS.
It originally came with 2 Mabuchi can motors without flywheels. I purchased the same motors with flywheels from Timko. The side window glass need to be trimmed to clear the flywheels on sharper radius track.
The Mabuchi can motors are 12 volt DC motors. They draw between 1-2 Amps under normal load.
You should be able to gut the AC DCRU and hook the motors directly to the ground and pickup rollers.
